Wealth has no exit date. Reading it has no end.
A family office holds interests, investments and operating companies that remain in the portfolio indefinitely. The structure of the review rarely changes; the content changes every period. What limits how much can be followed is not competence but the time spent rebuilding the same picture.
The reading a portfolio requires.
Each interest, and the whole
The statements of each company and investment are brought into a single patrimonial view. Individual and by-entity scopes coexist, and the position updates as the data arrives — without periodic rebuilding. Through analysis of portfolio companies.
The reading, period over period
Vertical and horizontal analysis, ratios by category, cash generation and return on invested capital. Where the analysis goes deeper, the DuPont decomposition of return and free cash conversion — computed as the data arrives, with the movement shown rather than searched for.
The market that moves the portfolio
A morning and close summary on the companies and sectors in which there is a position, each statement carrying the source it came from.
Loaded once, current every period.
The statements of each interest are loaded once. Ratios, movements, cash position and the report are computed from the same base, so the following period is an update rather than a rebuild.
Every figure traces back to the analysed statement it came from, which is what allows a number to be defended when an investment committee asks where it came from. Management adjustments are recorded beside the original figure, with authorship and approval.

Produced in the formats the work requires.

In a demonstration we analyse a portfolio, produce the deliverables, and show Ask Cycles working across them.
